Reign Co Pocket watches are powered by modern day quartz watch movements instead of heritage style manual wound movements. Modern movements as these operate using a battery-powered quartz crystal oscillator to maintain precise timekeeping. At the heart of the movement is a small piece of quartz crystal that vibrates when an electrical current is passed through it. This vibration occurs at a consistent frequency of 32,768 times per second. The watch's integrated circuit (IC) counts these vibrations and sends a pulse every second to a stepping motor, which then moves the watch's gears and hands forward. This process results in the familiar ticking motion of a quartz watch. Our movements are chosen to be highly reliable and accurate.

The benefits of battery powered quartz watch movements are numerous. Firstly, they are known for their exceptional accuracy, typically deviating only a few seconds per month, far outperforming
most mechanical watches. Manually wound watches must be wound at least every day and usually require re-timing every day. In addition, when a wound watch is overwound, they are likely to break completely. Reign movements are also very low maintenance; aside from periodic battery changes, they require minimal servicing. Battery replacement is accomplished by removing the back to the watch and removing and replacing the small watch battery located inside.
